South Pittsburg Pirates (South Pittsburg, TN) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Van Buren County Eagles (Spencer, TN), 58-55 in a league bout.

With the win, South Pittsburg upgrades its record to 11-2 on the season. The Pirates host Sequatchie County (Dunlap, TN) to play the Indians in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 27. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 10-9. Sequatchie County lost 55-53 in their recent league bout against Bledsoe County (Pikeville, TN)

Next up, the Eagles play the Clarkrange Buffaloes (Clarkrange, TN) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 29. Van Buren County will attempt to upgrade on its 8-6 season record. The Buffaloes go into the bout with a 4-15 record after their 82-52 league loss to Pickett County (Byrdstown, TN).
