Venus Bulldogs (Venus, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Life Waxahachie Mustangs (Waxahachie, TX), 59-52 in a league bout.

With the victory, Venus upgrades its record to 11-21 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Ferris (Ferris, TX) to play the Yellowjackets in a 4A Region II District 10 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a record of 12-15. Ferris won 61-24 in their recent league bout against Life Waxahachie (Waxahachie, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Hillsboro Eagles (Hillsboro, TX) in a 4A Region II District 10 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Life Waxahachie will attempt to upgrade on its 6-19 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 8-22 record after their 50-24 league loss to Alvarado (Alvarado, TX).
