Athens Hornets (Athens, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Cumberland Academy Knights (Tyler, TX), 78-46 in a league bout.

With the win, Athens upgrades its record to 17-10 on the season. The Hornets travel to Brownsboro (Brownsboro, TX) to clash with the Bears in a 4A Region II District 16 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 23-5. Brownsboro won 53-40 in their recent league bout against Mabank (Mabank, TX)

Next up, the Knights clash with the Canton Eagles (Canton, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Cumberland Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 25-6 record after their 54-43 league win over Athens (Athens, TX).
