Belton Tigers (Belton, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host University Trojans (Waco, TX), 57-54 in a league bout.

With the victory, Belton upgrades its record to 21-8 on the campaign. The Tigers host Waco (Waco, TX) to play the Lions in a 5A Region III District 22 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Lions come into the bout with a record of 5-19. Waco won 48-42 in their recent league bout against Lake Belton (Temple, TX)

Next up, the Trojans play the Chaparral Bobcats (Killeen, TX) in a 5A Region III District 22 bout, on Tuesday, January 31. University will attempt to upgrade on its 13-15 season record. The Bobcats come into the bout with a 20-11 record after their 90-41 league loss to Ellison (Killeen, TX).
