Illinois High School Basketball - Murphysboro can't hold off Massac County

The Massac County Patriots basketball team scored 34 points and held the host Murphysboro Red Devils to 28 in the Patriots league triumph on Friday.

The Patriots now sport a 19-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Cairo for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 28. Massac County will battle a Pilots team coming off a 81-37 non-league loss to Caruthersville (Caruthersville, MO). The Pilots record now stands at 2-20.

The Red Devils (9-6) will now prepare for their contest against Greenville (Greenville, IL). The Comets enter the non-league contest with a 14-9 record. In their last contest, Greenville nudged Southwestern (Piasa, IL), 58-44, in a league contest.
