Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Melbourne Bearkatz (Melbourne, AR) and the host Walnut Ridge Bobcats (Walnut Ridge, AR), saw Melbourne's basketball squad overcome Walnut Ridge by a tally of 54-42.

With the victory, Melbourne improves its record to 11-12 on the campaign. The Bearkatz travel to Tuckerman (Tuckerman, AR) to play the Bulldogs in a 3A Region 2 challenge on Monday, January 30. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 15-13. Tuckerman won 48-38 in their recent league challenge against Salem (Salem, AR)

Next up, the Bobcats play the Cave City Cavemen (Cave City, AR) in a 3A Region 2 challenge, on Wednesday, February 1. Walnut Ridge will attempt to improve on its 9-14 season record. The Cavemen come into the challenge with a 3-18 record after their 57-50 league loss to Hoxie (Hoxie, AR).
