Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) and the visiting Lake Hornets (Lake, MS), saw Newton's basketball squad hold off Lake by a tally of 33-29.

With the victory, Newton improves its record to 6-9 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Nanih Waiya (Louisville, MS) to confront the Warriors in a 2A Region 5 challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 2-4.

Next up, the Hornets confront the Nanih Waiya Warriors (Louisville, MS) in a 2A Region 5 challenge, on Friday, February 3. Lake will attempt to improve on its 5-6 season record.
