North Carolina High School Basketball - Watauga trounces South Caldwell

The Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) basketball crushed the visiting South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), 73-30 in Friday's league test.

The Pioneers (15-5) will now prepare for their test against Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Cougars go into the 3A/4A Conference 52 test with a 17-3 record. In their last test, Alexander Central was trounced by Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 43-39, in a league test.

The Spartans now own a 9-11 record. They play next when they host Freedom for a 3A/4A Conference 52 test on Tuesday, January 31. South Caldwell will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 46-41 league win over Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 11-8.
