North Carolina High School Basketball - Mountain Heritage nudges Avery County

In Friday's league outing, the Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) basketball squad edged the host Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), by a count of 45-42.

The Cougars (10-4) will now prepare for their match against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC). The Mountaineers enter the non-league match with a 13-3 record. In their last match, Mitchell tipped Tuscola (Waynesville, NC), 58-38, in a non-league match.

With the defeat, Avery County moves to 10-6 on the year. The Vikings host Madison (Marshall, NC) to face the Patriots in a non-league match on Tuesday, January 31. The Patriots enter the match with a record of 0-15.
