Weddington Warriors (Matthews, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Piedmont Panthers (Monroe, NC), 37-27 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Weddington upgrades its record to 9-4 on the season. The Warriors host Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC) to clash with the Pirates in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 3-11. Porter Ridge lost 53-36 in their recent non-league bout against Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC)

Next up, the Panthers clash with the Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Piedmont will attempt to upgrade on its 1-11 season record. The Spartans go into the bout with a 9-8 record after their 38-36 non-league win over Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC).
