New Mexico High School Basketball - Springer can't hold off Maxwell

The Maxwell Bears basketball team scored 53 points and held the host Springer Red Devils to 49 in the Bears league triumph on Saturday.

The Bears now sport a 9-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Clayton for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 30. Maxwell will battle a Yellowjackets team coming off a 55-46 non-league win over Raton (Raton, NM). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 9-11.

The Red Devils (7-10) will now prepare for their contest against Wagon Mound (Wagon Mound, NM). The Trojans enter the A District 5 contest with a 1-5 record. In their last contest, Wagon Mound was nudged by Des Moines (Des Moines, NM), 66-27, in a league contest.
