In Saturday's league outing, the Washburn Castle Guards (Washburn, WI) basketball squad nipped the host Mercer Tigers (Mercer, WI), by a margin of 42-40.

The Castle Guards (7-8) will now prepare for their outing against South Shore (Port Wing, WI). The Cardinals go into the Northern Lights outing with a 17-1 record. In their last outing, South Shore got by Bayfield (Bayfield, WI), 85-14, in a league outing.

The Tigers now own a 3-10 record. They play next when they travel to Butternut for a Northern Lights outing on Tuesday, January 30. Mercer will clash with a Midgets squad coming off a 61-49 league win over Solon Springs (Solon Springs, WI). The Midgets record now stands at 14-4.
