Next, the Mustangs encounter the Slaton Tigers (Slaton, TX) in a 3A Region I District 2 test, on Friday, January 31. Shallowater will attempt to improve on its 12-4 season record. The Tigers come into the test with a 22-5 record after their 58-42 league loss to Idalou (Idalou, TX).

The Chieftans (4-21) will now prepare for their test against Muleshoe (Muleshoe, TX). The Mules come into the 3A Region I District 2 test with a 1-14 record. In their last test, Muleshoe was routed by Littlefield (Littlefield, TX), 70-27, in a league test.
