The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) and the visiting Friona Chieftans (Friona, TX), observed Shallowater's basketball team overwhelm Friona by a score of 77-27.

The Mustangs (7-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Slaton (Slaton, TX). The Tigers come into the 3A Region I District 2 challenge with a 16-4 record. In their last challenge, Slaton trounced Idalou (Idalou, TX), 44-32, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Chieftans encounter the Muleshoe Mules (Muleshoe, TX) in a 3A Region I District 2 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Friona will attempt to improve on its 3-15 season record.
