The Independence Patriots basketball team (Coal City, WV), was overwhelmed 98-70 in Monday's non-league battle with the visiting Shady Spring Tigers (Shady Spring, WV)
The Tigers now possess a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to PikeView for a Coalfield AA battle on Tuesday, January 30. Shady Spring will battle a Panthers team coming off a 77-47 non-league loss to Graham (Bluefield, VA). The Panthers record now stands at 3-8.
The Patriots (3-8) will now prepare for their battle against Summers County (Hinton, WV). The Bobcats come into the Coalfield AA battle with a 5-5 record. In their last battle, Summers County was overwhelmed by Wyoming East (New Richmond, WV), 77-44, in a league battle.
