Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Shady Spring Tigers (Shady Spring, WV) and the visiting Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV), saw Shady Spring's basketball squad wallop Independence by a tally of 98-26.

With the victory, Shady Spring improves its record to 16-4 on the campaign.

Next up, the Patriots play the Liberty Raiders (Glen Daniel, WV) in a Coalfield AA challenge, on Tuesday, February 20. Independence will attempt to improve on its 7-10 season record. The Raiders come into the challenge with a 3-16 record after their 71-53 non-league loss to Lincoln County (Hamlin, WV).
