Manistique Emeralds (Manistique, MI) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Gwinn Modeltowners (Gwinn, MI), 54-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Manistique upgrades its record to 7-5 on the season. The Emeralds host Iron Mountain (Iron Mountain, MI) to clash with the Mountaineers in a Mid-Peninsula bout on Thursday, February 1. The Mountaineers go into the bout with a record of 3-11. Iron Mountain won 57-31 in their recent non-league bout against North Central (Powers, MI)

Next up, the Modeltowners clash with the Ishpeming Hematites (Ishpeming, MI) in a Mid-Peninsula bout, on Wednesday, January 31. Gwinn will attempt to upgrade on its 1-13 season record. The Hematites go into the bout with a 12-0 record after their 85-47 league win over Iron Mountain (Iron Mountain, MI).
