North Carolina High School Basketball - West Wilkes can't hold off Ashe County

The West Wilkes Blackhawks basketball team (Millers Creek, NC), was nudged 74-67 in Tuesday's non-league battle with the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC)

The Huskies now possess a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Alexander Central for a 3A/4A Conference 52 battle on Friday, January 6. Ashe County will battle a Cougars team coming off a 47-32 non-league win over Newton-Conover (Newton, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 8-4.

The Blackhawks (5-9) will now prepare for their battle against North Surry (Mount Airy, NC). The Greyhounds come into the 2A Conference 37 battle with a 12-1 record. In their last battle, North Surry edged Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC), 73-50, in a non-league battle.
