Lincoln Wolverine (Ellwood City, PA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Mohawk Area Warriors (Bessemer, PA), 71-67 in a league bout.

With the victory, Lincoln upgrades its record to 10-2 on the campaign. The Wolverine host Freedom Area (Freedom, PA) to play the Bulldogs in a WPIAL 3A 1 bout on Friday, January 6. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 1-9. Freedom Area lost 85-37 in their recent non-league bout against Northgate (Pittsburgh, PA)

Next up, the Warriors play the Beaver Falls Tigers (Beaver Falls, PA) in a WPIAL 3A 1 bout, on Friday, January 6. Mohawk Area will attempt to upgrade on its 9-1 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 50-41 league loss to Neshannock (New Castle, PA).
