Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Oakwood Comets (Fithian, IL) and the visiting Hoopeston Cornjerkers (Hoopeston, IL), saw Oakwood's basketball squad knock off Hoopeston by a count of 77-58.

With the victory, Oakwood upgrades its record to 12-5 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Chrisman (Chrisman, IL) to play the Cardinals in a Vermilion Valley challenge on Friday, January 6. The Cardinals come into the challenge with a record of 5-11.

Next up, the Cornjerkers play the Milford Bearcats (Milford, IL) in a Vermilion Valley challenge, on Friday, January 6. Hoopeston will attempt to upgrade on its 8-8 season record. The Bearcats come into the challenge with a 11-6 record after their 53-43 league loss to Salt Fork (Sidell, IL).
