The R-S Central Hilltoppers (Rutherfordton, NC) basketball felled the visiting Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC), 65-53 in Tuesday's league test.

The Hilltoppers (8-6) will now prepare for their test against Patton (Morganton, NC). The Panthers go into the 2A Conference 41 test with a 6-6 record. In their last test, Patton thwarted East Rutherford (Forest City, NC), 60-50, in a league test.

The Wolverines now own a 3-7 record. They play next when they host Madison for a non-league test on Wednesday, January 4. Polk County will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 57-51 league loss to Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 3-10.
