Virginia High School Basketball - Mathews overwhelmed by Middlesex

The Mathews Blue Devils basketball team (Mathews, VA), was overwhelmed 79-49 in Wednesday's league battle with the host Middlesex Chargers (Saluda, VA)

The Chargers now possess a 6-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Charles City for a Tidewater battle on Friday, January 5. Middlesex will battle a Panthers team coming off a 55-53 non-league loss to Southampton (Courtland, VA). The Panthers record now stands at 6-5.

The Blue Devils (1-8) will now prepare for their battle against Essex (Tappahannock, VA). The Trojans come into the non-league battle with a 2-3 record. In their last battle, Essex was overwhelmed by Riverside (Leesburg, VA), 89-41, in a non-league battle.
