Texas High School Basketball - Marlin overwhelms Axtell

The Marlin Bulldogs basketball team scored 49 points and limited the host Axtell Longhorns to 22 in the Bulldogs league triumph on Friday.

The Bulldogs now have a 9-6 record. They play next when they host Chilton for a 2A Region III District 17 game on Tuesday, January 7. Marlin will confront a Pirates team coming off a 40-21 league win over Bruceville-Eddy (Eddy, TX). The Pirates record now stands at 9-9.

With the loss, Axtell falls to 11-9 on the campaign. The Longhorns travel to Riesel (Riesel, TX) to confront the Indians in a 2A Region III District 17 game on Tuesday, January 7. The Indians go into the game with a record of 11-4. Riesel lost 46-41 in their recent league game against Marlin (Marlin, TX)
