In Friday's league test, the New Hope Trojans (Columbus, MS) basketball squad defeated the host Clarksdale Wildcats (Clarksdale, MS), by a final score of 58-48.
Next, the Trojans clash with the Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS) in a 5A Region 1 test, on Tuesday, January 7. New Hope will attempt to upgrade on its 8-4 season record. The Commodores come into the test with a 9-6 record after their 45-44 non-league win over D'Iberville (D'Iberville, MS).
The Wildcats (5-10) will now prepare for their test against West Point (West Point, MS). The Green Wave come into the 5A Region 1 test with a 3-13 record. In their last test, West Point went down by Pontotoc (Pontotoc, MS), 59-22, in a league test.
