Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Richland County Tigers (Olney, IL), 53-44 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mattoon upgrades its record to 12-13 on the season. The Greenwave travel to Taylorville (Taylorville, IL) to play the Tornadoes in a Apollo bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Tornadoes go into the bout with a record of 20-6. Taylorville won 45-36 in their recent league bout against Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, IL)

Next up, the Tigers play the Charleston Trojans (Charleston, IL) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, February 2. Richland County will attempt to upgrade on its 12-15 season record. The Trojans go into the bout with a 2-21 record after their 65-10 league loss to Effingham (Effingham, IL).
