North Carolina High School Basketball - Draughn tipped by Mitchell

The Mitchell Mountaineers basketball team scored 52 points and held the visiting Draughn Wildcats to 51 in the Mountaineers league triumph on Tuesday.

The Mountaineers now sport a 9-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Avery County for a 1A/2A Western Highlands contest on Wednesday, January 31. Mitchell will meet a Vikings team coming off a 74-13 league win over NCSSM: Morganton (Morganton, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 10-8.

The Wildcats (7-13) will now prepare for their contest against Madison (Marshall, NC). The Patriots enter the 1A/2A Western Highlands contest with a 9-11 record. In their last contest, Madison was nudged by Rosman (Rosman, NC), 35-19, in a league contest.
