North Carolina High School Basketball - Draughn trounces Mitchell

January 5, 2024: Valdese, NC 28690

The Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) basketball crushed the visiting Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), 86-46 in Friday's league test.

The Wildcats (5-8) will now prepare for their test against Madison (Marshall, NC). The Patriots go into the 1A/2A Western Highlands test with a 6-7 record. In their last test, Madison was trounced by Rosman (Rosman, NC), 73-22, in a league test.

The Mountaineers now own a 5-6 record. They play next when they host Cloudland for a non-league test on Monday, January 8. Mitchell will encounter a Highlanders squad coming off a 59-24 league win over Unaka (Elizabethton, TN). The Highlanders record now stands at 9-0.
