In Thursday's league test, the Cortez Colts (Phoenix, AZ) basketball squad defeated the visiting Tempe Buffaloes (Tempe, AZ), by a final score of 63-54.

Next, the Colts clash with the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks (Maricopa, AZ) in a 4A Black Canyon test, on Friday, January 31. Cortez will attempt to upgrade on its 13-3 season record. The Golden Hawks come into the test with a 4-17 record after their 97-32 league loss to Dysart (El Mirage, AZ).

The Buffaloes (10-13) will now prepare for their test against Coronado (Scottsdale, AZ). The Dons come into the 4A Black Canyon test with a 3-13 record. In their last test, Coronado went down by Cortez (Phoenix, AZ), 53-41, in a league test.
