The Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA) basketball knocked off the visiting Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA), 60-51 in Monday's league test.
The Eagles (12-6) will now prepare for their test against Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Spartans go into the Mountain Empire test with a 7-9 record. In their last test, Giles notched a victory over Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA), 73-62, in a league test.
The Maroons now own a 4-12 record. They play next when they host Salem for a non-league test on Thursday, February 3. Wythe will encounter a Spartans squad coming off a 79-56 league loss to Cave Spring (Roanoke, VA). The Spartans record now stands at 6-10.
