Texas High School Basketball - High Island overwhelmed by Spurger

The Spurger Pirates basketball team scored 93 points and restricted the visiting High Island Cardinals to 45 in the Pirates league victory on Tuesday.
The Pirates now sport a 16-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Burkeville for a 1A Region IV District 28 contest on Friday, February 3. Spurger will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 81-34 league loss to Brookeland (Brookeland, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 8-19.
The Cardinals (4-21) will now prepare for their contest against Goodrich (Goodrich, TX). The Hornets come into the 1A Region IV District 28 contest with a 1-24 record. In their last contest, Goodrich was routed by Leggett (Leggett, TX), 76-30, in a league contest.
