Zapata Hawks (Zapata, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Raymondville Bearkats (Raymondville, TX), 62-60 in a league bout.

With the win, Zapata upgrades its record to 10-11 on the season. The Hawks host Grulla (Rio Grande City, TX) to play the Gators in a 4A Region IV District 32 bout on Friday, February 3. The Gators go into the bout with a record of 8-14. Grulla lost 57-43 in their recent league bout against Port Isabel (Port Isabel, TX)

Next up, the Bearkats play the Jubilee Brownsville Titans (Brownsville, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 32 bout, on Friday, February 3. Raymondville will attempt to upgrade on its 14-16 season record. The Titans go into the bout with a 7-11 record after their 58-42 league loss to La Feria (La Feria, TX).
