Beecher Buccaneers (Flint, MI) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host New Standard Academy Spartans (Flint, MI), 40-33 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Beecher upgrades its record to 3-6 on the campaign. The Buccaneers host Genesee Christian (Burton, MI) to play the Soldiers in a Genesee Area - Red bout on Friday, February 2. The Soldiers come into the bout with a record of 4-6. Genesee Christian won 54-23 in their recent non-league bout against Chesaning (Chesaning, MI)

Next up, the Spartans play the Genesee Wolves (Genesee, MI) in a Genesee Area - Blue bout, on Friday, February 2. New Standard Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record. The Wolves come into the bout with a 7-5 record after their 70-45 non-league win over Bendle (Burton, MI).
