The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Coronado Mustangs (Lubbock, TX) and the host Lubbock Westerners (Lubbock, TX), observed Coronado's basketball team knock off Lubbock by a score of 68-48.

The Mustangs (11-17) will now prepare for their challenge against Tascosa (Amarillo, TX). The Rebels come into the 5A Region I District 3 challenge with a 18-10 record. In their last challenge, Tascosa prevailed over Palo Duro (Amarillo, TX), 58-45, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Westerners encounter the Plainview Bulldogs (Plainview, TX) in a 5A Region I District 3 challenge, on Tuesday, February 4. Lubbock will attempt to improve on its 8-20 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 13-13 record after their 59-54 league loss to Caprock (Amarillo, TX).
