Freeburg Midgets (Freeburg, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Columbia Eagles (Columbia, IL), 47-27 in a league bout.

With the victory, Freeburg upgrades its record to 10-8 on the campaign. The Midgets host Roxana (Roxana, IL) to play the Shells in a Cahokia - Mississippi bout on Thursday, January 11. The Shells come into the bout with a record of 6-8.

Next up, the Eagles play the Benton Rangers (Benton, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 6. Columbia will attempt to upgrade on its 11-7 season record. The Rangers come into the bout with a 8-11 record after their 45-41 league loss to Pinckneyville (Pinckneyville, IL).
