Kewanee Boilermakers (Kewanee, IL) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL), 45-33 in a league bout.

With the win, Kewanee upgrades its record to 5-12 on the season. The Boilermakers travel to St. Bede (Peru, IL) to clash with the Bruins in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Bruins go into the bout with a record of 12-7. St. Bede won 50-18 in their recent league bout against Roanoke-Benson (Roanoke, IL)

Next up, the Comets clash with the Riverdale Rams (Port Byron, IL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 8. Newman Central Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 10-11 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 13-4 record after their 57-26 non-league win over Mediapolis (Mediapolis, IA).
