California Trojans (Coal Center, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mapletown Maples (Greensboro, PA), 59-51 in a league bout.

With the win, California upgrades its record to 2-9 on the season. The Trojans host Jefferson-Morgan (Jefferson, PA) to clash with the Rockets in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Rockets go into the bout with a record of 8-4. Jefferson-Morgan lost 60-41 in their recent league bout against Monessen (Monessen, PA)

Next up, the Maples clash with the Geibel Catholic Gators (Connellsville, PA) in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Mapletown will attempt to upgrade on its 1-8 season record. The Gators go into the bout with a 0-11 record after their 62-26 league loss to West Greene (Waynesburg, PA).
