Lake Hornets (Lake, MS) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Scott Central Rebels (Forest, MS), 50-47 in a league bout.

With the victory, Lake upgrades its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Hornets host Morton (Morton, MS) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 12-5. Morton won 55-45 in their recent non-league bout against Forest (Forest, MS)

Next up, the Rebels play the Bay Springs Bulldogs (Bay Springs, MS) in a 2A Region 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Scott Central will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 11-3 record after their 47-42 league win over Newton (Newton, MS).
