West Tallahatchie Choctaws (Webb, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Leland Cubs (Leland, MS), 51-43 in a league bout.
With the win, West Tallahatchie upgrades its record to 8-6 on the season. The Choctaws travel to Shaw (Shaw, MS) to play the Warriors in a 1A Region 5 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 4-13. Shaw won 46-43 in their recent league bout against West Bolivar (Rosedale, MS)
Next up, the Cubs play the South Delta Bulldogs (Rolling Fork, MS) in a 1A Region 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Leland will attempt to upgrade on its 2-14 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 9-5 record after their 72-69 league win over Simmons (Hollandale, MS).
