Texas High School Basketball - Taft fells Mathis

Taft Greyhounds (Taft, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX), 50-32 in a league bout.

With the win, Taft upgrades its record to 13-8 on the season. The Greyhounds host Odem (Odem, TX) to clash with the Owls in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Owls go into the bout with a record of 2-23. Odem lost 54-20 in their recent league bout against Aransas Pass (Aransas Pass, TX)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Goliad Tigers (Goliad, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Mathis will attempt to upgrade on its 1-18 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 8-14 record after their 41-39 league win over George West (George West, TX).
