Richards Panthers (Richards, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Calvert Trojans (Calvert, TX), 2-0 in a league challenge.

With the victory, Richards improves its record to 5-2 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Fayetteville (Fayetteville, TX) to confront the Lions in a 1A Region IV District 29 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Lions come into the challenge with a record of 8-11. Fayetteville won 35-28 in their recent league challenge against McDade (McDade, TX)

Next up, the Trojans confront the North Zulch Bulldogs (North Zulch, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 29 challenge, on Tuesday, January 10. Calvert will attempt to improve on its 0-7 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 9-7 record after their 53-10 league win over Buckholts (Buckholts, TX).
