Clayton Comets (Clayton, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Garner Trojans (Garner, NC), 38-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Clayton upgrades its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Willow Spring (Fuquay-Varina, NC) to play the Storm in a 4A Conference 26 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Storm come into the bout with a record of 14-1. Willow Spring won 54-34 in their recent league bout against Corinth Holders (Wendell, NC)

Next up, the Trojans play the Corinth Holders Pirates (Wendell, NC) in a 4A Conference 26 bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Garner will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Pirates come into the bout with a 13-1 record after their 54-34 league loss to Willow Spring (Fuquay-Varina, NC).
