Deep Creek Hornets (Chesapeake, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Lakeland Cavaliers (Suffolk, VA), 58-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Deep Creek upgrades its record to 4-3 on the season. The Hornets host Arcadia (Oak Hall, VA) to play the Firebirds in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 11. The Firebirds go into the bout with a record of 2-7. Arcadia lost 48-36 in their recent non-league bout against Westmoreland (Montross, VA)

Next up, the Cavaliers play the Nansemond River Warriors (Suffolk, VA) in a Southeastern bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Lakeland will attempt to upgrade on its 4-4 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 4-3 record after their 51-34 non-league win over Windsor (Windsor, VA).
