Illinois High School Basketball - Edwards County nipped by Mt. Carmel

The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces tipped the visiting Edwards County Lions basketball team by a final score of 61-58 in Saturday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Golden Aces face the Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) in a Little Illini game, on Monday, January 8. Mt. Carmel will attempt to move on its 16-3 season record. The Eagles enter the game with a 11-8 record after their 65-42 league win over Lawrenceville (Lawrenceville, IL).

With the defeat, Edwards County moves to 14-6 on the year. The Lions travel to Fairfield (Fairfield, IL) to face the Mules in a Black Diamond - East game on Thursday, January 11. The Mules enter the game with a record of 9-15. Fairfield won 26-23 in their recent league game against Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL)
