McEvans Warriors (Shaw, MS) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Edwards Tigers (Ruleville, MS), 36-30 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, McEvans upgrades its record to 9-5 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to West Tallahatchie (Webb, MS) to play the Choctaws in a 1A Region 5 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Choctaws come into the bout with a record of 3-6. West Tallahatchie won 48-30 in their recent league bout against South Delta (Rolling Fork, MS)

Next up, the Tigers play the Humphreys County Cowboys (Belzoni, MS) in a 3A Region 3 bout, on Friday, January 20. Edwards will attempt to upgrade on its 4-6 season record.
