The Monterey Plainsmen basketball team scored 53 points and limited the visiting Coronado Mustangs to 51 in the Plainsmen league triumph on Tuesday.

The Plainsmen now have a 10-15 record. They play next when they travel to Plainview for a 5A Region I District 3 game on Friday, January 10. Monterey will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 65-57 league loss to Tascosa (Amarillo, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 13-7.

With the loss, Coronado falls to 6-15 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Amarillo (Amarillo, TX) to confront the Sandies in a 5A Region I District 3 game on Friday, January 10. The Sandies go into the game with a record of 21-5. Amarillo won 48-38 in their recent league game against Palo Duro (Amarillo, TX)
