The Lafayette Commodores basketball squad (Oxford, MS), lost 52-37 in Tuesday's league battle with the host New Hope Trojans (Columbus, MS)
With the victory, New Hope advances its record to 8-5 on the year. The Trojans host West Lowndes (Columbus, MS) to meet the Panthers in a non-league battle on Thursday, January 9. The Panthers enter the battle with a record of 5-8.
The Commodores now own a 9-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Clarksdale for a 5A Region 1 battle on Tuesday, January 14. Lafayette will meet a Wildcats squad coming off a 56-53 league loss to West Point (West Point, MS). The Wildcats record now stands at 7-11.
