Aliquippa Quips (Aliquippa, PA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Northgate Flames (Pittsburgh, PA), 55-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Aliquippa upgrades its record to 7-3 on the season. The Quips host Laurel (New Castle, PA) to play the Spartan in a WPIAL 2A 1 bout on Friday, January 12. The Spartan go into the bout with a record of 3-8. Laurel lost 70-34 in their recent league bout against Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA)

Next up, the Flames play the South Side Rams (Hookstown, PA) in a WPIAL 2A 1 bout, on Friday, January 12. Northgate will attempt to upgrade on its 7-3 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 7-7 record after their 69-67 league loss to Shenango (New Castle, PA).
