Picayune Maroon Tide (Picayune, MS) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host George County Rebels (Lucedale, MS), 51-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Picayune upgrades its record to 16-5 on the campaign. The Maroon Tide travel to Pascagoula (Pascagoula, MS) to play the Panthers in a 6A Region 4 bout on Friday, January 12. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 15-1. Pascagoula won 67-38 in their recent league bout against West Harrison (Gulfport, MS)

Next up, the Rebels play the Long Beach Bearcats (Long Beach, MS) in a 6A Region 4 bout, on Friday, January 12. George County will attempt to upgrade on its 4-13 season record. The Bearcats come into the bout with a 4-16 record after their 60-46 league loss to Hancock (Kiln, MS).
