The Meridian Wildcats basketball team scored 55 points and held the visiting Petal Panthers to 49 in the Wildcats league triumph on Tuesday.

The Wildcats now sport a 12-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Brandon for a 7A Region 3 contest on Friday, January 12. Meridian will battle a Bulldogs team coming off a 60-43 league win over Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 11-8.

The Panthers (10-9) will now prepare for their contest against Pearl (Pearl, MS). The Pirates enter the 7A Region 3 contest with a 13-6 record. In their last contest, Pearl nudged Northwest Rankin (Brandon, MS), 55-51, in a league contest.
