Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Wellman-Union Wildcats (Wellman, TX), 61-21 in a league bout.

With the win, Sands upgrades its record to 12-11 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Klondike (Lamesa, TX) to clash with the Cougars in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Friday, January 12. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 8-5.

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the Dawson Dragons (Welch, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 bout, on Friday, January 12. Wellman-Union will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record.
